White Paper:
Designing Our Circular Future

04. Oct 2021
A joint white paper from Creative Denmark, Danish Design Center, BLOXHUB and Danish Architecture Center highlights the role of design in a transition to a circular economy
Analysis

What if you woke up in 2050 to a zero-waste world?

The vision of a completely circular society may sound utopian, but in a new white paper, “Designing the irresistible circular society,” Creative Denmark, Danish Design Center, BLOXHUB and Danish Architecture Center outline the first steps to making it a reality.

“It is a fundamental truth in our world that the future must be imagined before it can be created. That is the power of design,“ says our CEO Christian Bason in his contribution to the paper.

Based on the three pioneering principles for a circular economy put forward by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the paper showcases Danish creative and innovative solutions that (1) design out waste and pollution, (2) keep products and materials in use and (3) regenerate natural systems.

Denmark has a key role in creating an “irresistible circular society where circularity is a clear-cut choice”, and the paper is an urgent call to action for all of us – policy makers, companies, consumers – to start the transition now.
