The Urbantech Accelerator:
Finding a Future-friendly Way forward for Cities

Urbantech is an accelerator where the most promising tech startups cross-pollinate their innovation skills with the disciplines of major corporate businesses. It’s all about developing future-friendly cities

This project is a part of our theme
Green transition

The Challenge: How can the corporate world and startups learn from each other?

Can we build a fast-track to impact at scale by facilitating a meeting between startups that bring innovative ideas and technologies to solve today’s fundamental problems, and corporations with the know-how and resources to make things happen in a big way?

The How: The Urbantech accelerator program

Once a year, Urbantech brings together the world’s most innovative urban-tech startups with corporate partners like COWI, EWII, and VKR/VELUX in Copenhagen, Denmark.

It’s all hosted at the innovation hub, co-working space, and home of DDC, Bloxhub Copenhagen. The startups go through an intensive, tailored accelerator program, including training from us in design methods, design-driven innovation, and human-centered processes. In the end, they’ll be empowered to scale their businesses and, in the bigger picture, play a significant part in creating the future of sustainable cities everywhere.

The ambition is to cultivate new ideas in tech innovation for future-friendly cities. Urbantech is the collective label for the program’s focus on digital solutions that make construction more effective, buildings and power systems more flexible, and public spaces more multifunctional. Ultimately, the goal is to reduce the CO2 emission of cities.
